I’m sorry you’re feeling scared. There’s nothing you can do but wait and see what he decides — besides trying to understand why you did what you did and explaining it to him. Then apologize. He feels like you invaded his privacy and betrayed him by doing so. He may want to hear why you did what you did, but he’s mostly going to want to hear that you understand how he feels and you aren’t blaming him for feeling that way, in fact you agree with him that you’d feel the same way if he’d done what you did.

If you’re just nosy and you have a habit of butting into people’s business, then let him know that his is part of who you are, and you’re going to work on this problem. But if you did this because you don’t trust him, there may be an underlying issue that you’re both not dealing with and your emotions are acting out on the password break in instead of the mistrust you have for him. That’s a bigger problem.
